Synthesizing Exploration

The main idea for this thesis was to be a journey of self-discovery, artistically speaking. Each set of works you see were selected to represent the different legs in that journey. However, the main thing they all have in common, to a degree, is that they all involve taking pre-existing ideas or concepts, and giving them a more visual form. Starting with my Persona project, the Fandom Thieves of Death Battle, I collaborated with fellow Death Battle fans to create my own team of Phantom Thieves with original designs and concepts. As for my Friday Night Funkin mod, Of Beats and Bars, as much as it was to pursue another passion project, I wasn't exactly pushing myself like my peers and professors hoped it would. After talking a bit with the latter, we came up with the third idea: Concept Art for different spins on Robin Hood. While I did have some fun experimenting, I was honestly stressing myself out with how it felt like I was looking through an ocean to find the right fish. Finally, I talked with my professors one last time, and we agreed that I could try and make existing 2D characters 3D.

Bio

Growing up in a military family, Jacob Logue is a digital artist that was exposed to a lot of different experiences throughout his life, both good and bad. It wasn't until he stumbled upon the fandom of the YouTube series "Death Battle!" that he caught a glimpse of his true calling, no matter how temporary. As things currently stand, he has made over five hundered custom album covers for many fans of the series; a good handful of which have been featured in hypothetical commissions by the composers of "Death Battle!", Brandon Yates, Therewolf Media, and upstarting composer, Joshua Poore.
