My thesis involves designing book covers and decorative endpapers for three epic poems, spanning in origin from 8 CE to the 21st century. My goal with this selection of work is to support through illustration a new reading of these poems, with a particular focus on the fluctuating form of the epic poem as a genre with roots in oral storytelling. I was inspired by contemporary and historical book cover design and illustration when making these illustrations.Bio
