My thesis is an exploration of my Filipino identity and culture. As a first generation immigrant, western culture has influenced my life and my artwork. Filipino values and traditions are strong in my family, but I am continuously learning about the history of my homeland. This body of work represents my experiences with my family and the time I spent in the Philippines. Each piece represents an aspect of my childhood memories, in an idealized or thought-provoking perspective. I implement color, texture and patterns, along with influences of contemporary Filipino artists in these works.
