Star Scattered

Star Scattered is a kid-friendly animated series featuring cartoon bats experiencing homelessness. This show concept was developed through character design, branding, and storyboards in order to embrace my love for the animation pre-production pipeline. The fully-voiced animatic captures the personalities of each character and sets up themes of teamwork, kindness, and the importance of community.

As the characters lose their home in the first episode, they are left to seek out safety and shelter elsewhere. This is an ongoing quest that would last several seasons, to mirror the real-life unresolved issues surrounding homelessness. Representing an unhoused community as bats also reflects several parallels between them, such as irrational fears and their perception as pests by the general public. It is the main factor driving the plot in Star Scattered, as an attempt to raise more awareness about the issue while simultaneously combating stereotypes.
