I am fascinated by our relationship with furniture and the spaces we occupy. I designed this piece around the theatricality and ridiculousness of Baroque and Rococo aesthetics, bringing it into the modern era with my own flare. Its highly interactive nature is meant to emphasize the inherent socialization in furniture and explores how furniture objects facilitate emotional responses. This two person rocking chair is made to be used in a variety of ways, sitting or standing. Familiar furniture features and shapes indicate places to rest the body and ways to interact with the object. It requires two bodies to use (or some creative thinking from a single user). It is entirely dependent on human interaction to become a functional object, as when it is not in motion it is completely useless, thus emphasizing the codependent relationship between furniture and our bodies. BioKyra Aboujaoude is a Lebanese-American woodworker, metalsmith, illustrator, and sculptor. She received her BFA in Woodworking &amp; Furniture at Maine College of Art &amp; Design in 2023. Not limited by one artform, their practice is defined more by materials and textures, creating furniture and objects through a surrealist impression and unnerving sensory experiences. While incorporating themes like gender, sexuality, personal fantasy, and human connection. My paintings are me, they are extensions of myself. I insert myself physically into my paintings, I am my own figure reference. My paintings are my form of communication and connection. I paint for me, and for others who experience similar feelings to me. While my paintings are me, I have always found it difficult to identify myself. I have always felt uncomfortable with my body, my face, my mind. I have always felt like I looked strange. My paintings are the leftovers of my feelings, the anger, sadness, and confusion that never seem to leave my body, they spill into my work. There are questions that are constantly running through my head, how do I look right now? How do I move through this space? How has this space affected me? I paint in an attempt to answer those questions. While I’m constantly trying to find peace within myself, my experiences are a part of me, and my past selves have left their mark. It is a stop motion short film in a fictional version of the afterlife I created. The film acts like an informational video, guiding the viewer through a purgatory-like plane called the VOID into the afterlife. The three characters are all queer in some way but also hold positions of power in the religious hierarchy, subverting a long history of bias toward the LGBT community from organized religions. This film aims to explore complex relationships with spirituality and represent queer bodies in a context they are often excluded from. BioMace Button is an animator and designer specializing in Stop Motion and 2D animation. Their love of story, daydreaming, and an overgrown imagination led them from the Lego stop-motion videos they made as a kid to creating high-production animated films. Seeing the ideas in their head become physical puppets alive on screen, pushes them to keep the dying art of Stop motion alive. When they’re not tediously moving small puppets they enjoy jumping into the ocean, boat watching, and getting lost in their hyper fixations.
